Working group
Elegir.
WG 2: Scientific
WG 3: Socio-economic
WG 4: Socio-territorial
Strategic objecive
Elegir.
OS1 : Characterising the structuring Mediterranean vegetal environments and mixtures and their implantation protocols
OS2 : Provide seed mixtures and develop models of value chains for inter-stakeholder collaborations
OS3 : Support the commitment of managers, local leadership relays and citizens to the restoration of biodiversity through indigenous seeds
Theme
Elegir.
Seed mixtures
Site restoration
Indicator
Elegir.
1.1: Better knowledge of the composition of native seed mixtures adapted to the characteristics of Mediterranean environments, by renaturation objective (at least for annual pioneer species), by location, etc
1.2: Better knowledge of ecological restoration methods from indigenous seeds, especially those at low cost (e.g. hay transfer + reuse of seeds from organic cereal crop sorting differences)
1.3: Better knowledge of the advantages of the Végétal Local label
1.4: Greater presence of indigenous seeds in the Portuguese official catalogue
1.5: Better knowledge of the simplified protocol for the registration of local seeds in the Portuguese official catalogue
Indicator
Elegir.
1.6: Better knowledge of management methods in favor of the ecological restoration of the Mediterranean environments targeted by each project partner (vegetable covers in vineyards, meadows, etc.)
1.7: Better knowledge of priority areas to be restored according to the land managers, requiring a renaturation action
1.8: Better knowledge of the technical routes of implantation of native seed mixtures best suited to these environments
Theme
Elegir.
Seed supply
Economic stakeholders mobilized
Level of collaboration
Indicator
Elegir.
Better visibility of the available seed supply on the market in response to demand
First stock of mother seeds (broad-spectrum and compatible with the Végétal Local label) built up during the project and available (under conditions) to continue the multiplication in order to increase the capacity of economic actors to meet demand
Conditions of use of seed stock (produced during the project) defined and validated collectively, known to/met by al
Indicator
Elegir.
Farmers/nurserymen trained and autonomous to ensure the multiplication of simple seeds and motivated to continue to improve their skills
Better knowledge of the needs of seed producers and future buyers (according to the segments studied by each partner)
More economic stakeholders (wine companies, farmers, other sectors) sensitized to the challenges of ecological restoration by indigenous seeds of local origin
Economic stakeholders mobilized during the project, motivated to pursue the dynamics of structuring the sector (first leads of mutualisation laid and willingness to operationalize them)
Indicator
Elegir.
Better identification by planners and land managers of the major role they have to play and possible ways of action to support the emergence of ecological restoration value chains in Mediterranean environments through indigenous seed mixtures
Increased ability of some seed producers to share experiences and technical and economic data (cooperation)
Continuation of the dialogue between seed producers and buyers to find ways of strengthening the actions undertaken during the project
Theme
Elegir.
Public policies
Territorial planning
Awareness and facilitation
Indicator
Elegir.
Evolution (nature, intensity) of public policies and the mode of intervention of the managers of the pilot territories in terms of ecological restoratio
National translation of European directives completed thanks to the project, to have a regulatory framework favourable to the development of ecological restoration value chains
Capacity of local public actors strengthened in the use of ecotypes seeds (e.g.: with the help of a plea to be sent back to elected officials, practical sheets on technical routes, models of commitment in favor of local plants...)
Indicator
Elegir.
Better inter-knowledge between different services of local authorities on the advantages of combining their actions in favour of biodiversity
More planners and land managers aware and willing to integrate local plants in their ecological restoration strategy, beyond the pilot territorie
Indicator
Elegir.
More citizens aware of the challenges of restoring biodiversity through local seeds using replicable animation methods
Enhanced capacity to transfer to other actors in the field the strategic and methodological lessons of the multi-stakeholder animation approach put in place (to inventory, mobilize and sensitize professionals and institutions)
Greater autonomy in the conduct of a multi-stakeholder animation approach (to inventory, mobilize and raise awareness among professionals and institutions) thanks to strategic and methodological lessons transferred by the project partners
Experience of the European association ENSPA transmitted to project partners and more widely accessible (capitalized and available)
